Our wonderful nurseries provide a complete early-years programme based on the Early Years & Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS) whilst integrating the Reggio Emilia approach to early-years education.

Willow Children's Nursery is committed to providing parents with the very best start for their children. Our passion is to inspire and intrigue children, so we constantly strive to develop new and innovative ideas that let their imaginations run free. Growing in confidence

Young children learn through experiences, imitation and by being actively involved in the world around them. Our exciting play-based curriculum encourages children to express and build meaning through these experiences.

In these early years we ensure that a child’s natural sense of awe and wonder is nurtured through art, movement, story and language.

      Ensure a Successful School Transition

The huge change of going to school can be overwhelming for children. Ensure a calm transition by allowing your child to stay in nursery for a year while learning school curriculum.

Children will benefit from a familiar environment and teachers who know them.

They'll make steady progress with small class sizes and personalised attention, and be fully ready for school when they leave.

      Emma Deakin

      Area Director of Willow Nurseries

Dear parents, my name is Emma Deakin and I am the Area Director for the three Willow Nurseries, Dubai marina, Umm Sequim and One central. I have been in Dubai for 6 years and I live with my husband and little girl, who also attends Willow. I have 18 years of experience in Early Years Education and with the EYFS British curriculum.

I started my journey in the childcare industry from the very young age of 16 in the UK. I immediately found my passion and have not looked back since! I started training in the nursery and gained my CACHE 2 and 3 in childhood studies and developed into the role as a Nursery Manager at the age of just 21. We gained OUTSTANDING in all areas in our OFSTED inspections and mentored a great team! I came to Dubai from being headhunted by an investor and opened up a brand new nursery in 2013. This was such an amazing experience and loved every minute of it. I came to Willow in 2016 and this really has been the best move I’ve made.

It is important to me that Willow Nurseries provide a caring and safe environment where children can grow and develop at their own pace. Watching a baby do something for the first time to watching the children leave to go to school ... every experience is unique and special. As Area Director I aim to deliver a high standard of care and education for all our children and create long-lasting partnerships with parents.

      Nada Halaseh

      Admin Manager
      Willow One Central

My name is Nada Halaseh and I am the Admin Manager at Willow Nursery, One central, Dubai. I come from Jordan, yet I have lived most of my early days in Syria, married to a Lebanese husband and have an 11 years old son.

I landed in Dubai back in 2005 with a great ambition to develop my career in administration. I have joined several roles in the corporate world, however, my motherhood role, which was a very important turning point in my life, brought me to the Education Industry. I have worked for 7 years as a teacher assistant in Kings Dubai, where I have developed my skills in childcare and gained my CACHE 2 and currently enrolled for CACHE 5. Having both experiences, in Admin and Childcare, my role today at Willow Nursery is to support a great team to focus on the children's needs while I make sure all the operational details are well set and ready to fulfil the educational and logistics needs.

It is important to me that Willow Nurseries provide a caring and safe environment where children can grow and develop at their own pace. As such, my commitment will always be to look at every single detail that can enhance the experience of the children, the parents and our professional team.

      Samantha Bartolini

      Admin Manager
      Willow Umm Suqeim

Hello, my name is Samantha Bartolini, and I am the Admin Manager at Willow Children’s Nursery. I am from the UK and have lived in London for most of my life. After I finished school, I went to college to complete my Cache level 2 in childcare then worked at a nursery for 3 years. I decided to change career paths, therefore, accepted an offer to work for a large chain of hotels, The Marriott International. I worked for The Marriott for over 10 years as a Cluster Revenue Manager looking after 3 hotels.

I moved to Dubai over 5 years ago with my family. I have two children, 1 of them is a student at Willow. Once we settled in Dubai, I started to work for a standalone school in Dubai as a Registrar and was there for 3 years. I then moved to Willow Children’s Nursery in 2019, as the Admin Manager.

Overall, I love meeting new families and helping them make the right decision on the child care for their children.

      Suroor Ansari

      Nursery Manager

"When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it." - Paulo Coelho

Perhaps Coelho’s Alchemist was at one point on everyone’s to-read list. And perhaps this passage may have, at some point in time, been overused. But no quote do I hold as close to my heart as this, as I have felt my calling to become an educator, and I do believe that – at some level – the universe helped me get here.

Born and bred in Toronto, Canada with a Persian heritage, I become intrigued with early childhood education soon after the birth of my first son and sought out to become nothing short of an expert in the field as soon as I was given the chance. With 17 years of experience in Early Years, a Cache Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education and a Cache Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management from the UK, I am driven by extensive experience, theoretical and practical knowledge. I started my career as a teacher, progressed to lead teacher, then Deputy Manager and Centre Director. My role involves everything from greeting parents in the morning to managing the daily operations of the nursery. I count my personal diversity as one of my strongest assets, with a culture of pluralism and tolerance; an almost innate quality in addition to my natural sense of curiosity, driven by passion for quality childcare. I can speak two languages fluently – English and French, another testament – I believe – to my diversity. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, exercising, cooking, and travelling. I am a mother of 3 beautiful children. My 20-year-old son is studying in Canada and my twin daughters study next door at Horizon International.

As every child is unique, I am aligned with the ethos of Willow Children’s Nursery to ensure that every child who walks through our doors is provided with the right foundation and tools in a safe, inspiring, and personalised environment. It is in this very environment that children learn to love education; an environment that not only challenges children to be the best that they can be, but myself as well.

      Steff Calder

      Deputy Manager
      WIllow Dubai Marina

My name is Steff Calder and I am the deputy manager at Willow Marina. I began working at Willow Marina in November 2016 as a class teacher, became Head Teacher in 2018 and am now Deputy Manager. I am originally from Scotland and completed my HNC in Early Education and Childcare in 2008.

I knew that childcare was the career for me when I done my high school work experience in a nursery school and didn’t want to leave. I love seeing the world through the eyes of children and experiencing the way their minds work. I am always proud to have played a part in helping a child become the best version of themselves.

As Deputy Manager I aim to always provide a safe stimulating environment in which children can learn and develop whilst allowing them to grow as individuals.

      Tara Weston

      Deputy Manager
      WIllow One Central

I began my childcare journey back in the UK where I am from. I started working in the community caring for children with special needs. I then moved over to the children’s hospital where I worked on Intensive Care as a Clinic Support Worker. This is where I gained my childcare qualification. After 2 years of working here I decided I wanted to branch out and take my skills oversees. I applied for jobs in Dubai and within 3 month I found myself working at Willow Nursery Umm Suqeim.

After spending 6 months working there as a teacher for the toddler class, I was moved over to Willow Marina where I became the baby unit leader. I spent 3 years at the Marina Branch before I was promoted to lead teacher at our brand-new Willow Nursery One Central branch. I spent 3 months helping to get the new nursery set up and running. I was a lead teacher at this branch for 6 months and then an excellent opportunity came up for me to become the deputy manger there. I was ecstatic. I have now been a manager of One Central for 6 months and I love every minute of it. I cannot wait to continue my journey with my KFG family.

Select a Willow Nursery and meet our wonderful team.

      Anusheh Ahmar

My name is Anusheh Ahmar and I am an experienced Early Years practitioner teaching in Dubai for the last ten years. Born and brought up in Pakistan, I have extensively travelled the world and for the last thirteen years, Dubai has been my home. I am a mother of two boys which has encouraged me to become more patient and nurturing. I love being a mom, even with all its trials and lessons!

My admiration for children makes me a compassionate and dedicated teacher. I am always working with new strategies and seeking knowledge to become a better practitioner to yield favourable learning outcomes in children. My strength as a teacher is to work with differentiated instruction to maximize individual growth in my students.

What I enjoy the most is being around my students; they enlighten me and fill my day with love and joy. Every child has a unique personality and there is always so much to learn from them. Each one in their own way leaves lasting impressions and memories for me to cherish.

I would want to be no one other than a ‘Teacher’.

      Karine Khachatryan

Hello, my name is Karine Khachatryan and I am the new class teacher for Hollies. I am originally from Moscow, Russia, though I have lived in different countries over the years.

I have my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Pedagogy and a Master’s degree in Applied Psychology which I studied in Scotland, UK.

I have been working with children for 12 years now in the capacity of a special needs’ teacher. I have a diverse range of teaching experiences such as working in schools, clinics, children’s camps, nurseries and in a home environment as well.

What makes me feel passionate about working with children is that when they are treated with love, kindness, and respect, they give back thousandfold. I can still remember all the teachers who impacted me positively and I want to do the same with children in my care. I am by nature a soft and nurturing person and because of this, working with Early Years is a natural fit for me.

Looking forward to getting to know you and your child and having an amazing new year together!

      Kerrie

Hello, my name is Kerrie and I am the teacher for Seedlings class in Willow Children’s Nursery. I am from the south of England, living in a small town in Devon. Nine years ago, I decided to go on an adventure and live in New Zealand where I met my husband. We then moved to Dubai in the beginning of 2017.

Starting my career, I went into psychology and worked with adults in mental health which I loved. As my family started getting bigger with the arrival of my lovely nieces and nephews, I got the chance to look after them which is when I realised, I really wanted to work with children. Two of my nephews have Autism and I have learnt so much about child development and disabilities. While attending many therapy sessions with them, I was able to learn various ways to support different types of children. Since then, I decided I wanted to be a teacher and I did my level 3 Diploma in Early Childhood Education. I have worked for 4 years with children of different ages including babies. This job has been a dream come true. I work with passion and love. I feel I am naturally very calm but can be very fun and creative which works so well with children.

My hobbies must be reading books. I love to read novels and any books on psychology since that is my main interest. My husband and I love traveling and trying different foods. The UAE is amazing for trying many different foods from all over the world. Back in the UK and New Zealand I loved hiking, climbing mountains and volcano’s which I am very proud of, next I will tackle the mountains here in the UAE.

      Magen Alexander

Hello current and prospective Willow family!!

My name is Magen Alexander, and I am the teacher for the Little Acorns’ class. My educational background consists of a BSocSci in Psychology and Art History, Applied Behavioral Analysis training, RBT training, CACHE Level 3 and multiple other courses done over the years. I have been living and working within the UAE for 4 years, my prior position being a behaviour therapist working with children of determination. I am extremely passionate about inclusion and truly believe that each child is unique and should therefore have a unique education. I’ve worked with children and young adults for several years in various capacities which has allowed me to gain experience in all areas of child development.

I believe that passion cannot be learnt in a textbook or seminar, but rather, stems from the heart. Although I have obtained my qualifications through years of continuous studies, I have always had a deep passion for working with children. Growing up in South Africa, where there is always a need to lend a hand, I took inspiration from my parents who worked tirelessly to not only ensure that their own children were provided for but always sought to help others, regardless of how much or how little they had to give. During my varsity years I volunteered for an NGO/NPO working with children in the rural areas of Cape Town. To this day my time there inspires me to always work as hard as I can, knowing that there are people who give all of themselves to help others for nothing in return.

I am mother to a wonderful little boy who is currently attending Willow Children’s Nursery. I treat each child in my class with the same love and care that I would want for my son and always try to empathize with the parents and ensure that they feel at ease with their children being in my care. I am extremely family-orientated, and I consider myself blessed to be working in an industry that brings me such joy and continues to grow my Dubai Family.

      Ms. Kelsey

Hello, my name is Ms. Kelsey. Born and bred in Liverpool, England, I qualified with a level 3 as an Early Years Educator in 2015. I am interested in traveling, meeting new people and experiencing different cultures around the world.

In January 2019, I embarked on a new adventure while moving to the UAE. I wanted to extend my knowledge and experiences by traveling and teaching in different parts of the world. My aim within all educational sectors, is to provide equal opportunities for all children. Allowing them to develop skills in a safe and comfortable learning environment and tailoring their education to their individual needs.

I have experience in EYFS and Montessori nurseries, both in the UK and UAE, with a variety of age groups. My main interests are child psychology and early years development. I am excited to progress in my career and gain new experiences in the UAE.

This will be my first year at Willows Children’s Nursery. However, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work alongside an outstanding team in a highly established nursery environment. I look forward to meeting all the children and their families.

Every child deserves a champion-an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be - Rita Pierson.

      Natalia Aguirre

Hi, my name is Natalia Aguirre, and I am originally from Colombia.

I moved to UAE with my husband where we have built a life that I love with our precious son. I am very passionate about spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy road trips, exploring hidden gems, tasting different cuisines, and experiencing the beauty of cultural diversity in our world. I consider myself a fervent community helper, skilled in motivating and inspiring individuals to identify their full potential. My educational background and past career in Business Administration has positively shaped me, however, my volunteer work in an adoption center in Spain and teaching Spanish in New York has led me down the path of caring for young children.

I have a Cache Level 3 in Early Years Education with additional continuous professional development (CPD) courses. I have been teaching in Dubai for the last four years. I have a true passion for working with babies and believe in providing high quality care and nurturing a child’s creativity through play, art expression and music. Seeing children laugh and smile every day, makes me feel very grateful to be a part of their lives!

      Peony

Originally from Sri Lanka, I have lived in Dubai for almost 5 years. I have always been passionate about teaching and special needs education. However, due to family circumstances, I was unable to pursue this passion early on. Finally, 2 years ago and after 6 years in the corporate sector, I was able to follow my heart.

I have both CACHE LEVEL 2 and 3 qualifications in Early Years Education as well as a CACHE LEVEL 3 diploma as a Special Needs Co-Ordinator. I am looking to start my Master’s degree in special needs education as well as my Post Graduate certificate in education within a year’s time.

I am fond of individualized learning for each child as well as inclusion, diversity in learning and differentiation since children excel when you nurture their own interests. I believe in creating memorable experiences for children as well as enabling learning environments which will support them in forming strong, positive relationships. I strive to help children build their self-confidence and provide them with the right environment and tools that will help them to reach their full potential.

Looking forward to a wonderful new year together!

      Ms. Yasmin

Hi, my name is Ms. Yasmin. I am excited to be a part of Willow Children’s Nursery for 3 years now. I was educated and brought up in America before completing my degree in Egypt where I later taught under the Montessori system. I have a Cache level 3 diploma in the Early Years Foundation Stage which I completed in the UK and two years previously working in Dubai at another Nursery. I love to exercise, travel, and ride my motorbike. I also have a 4-year-old son named Noah; he is in our Blossoms class in Willow.

I recently enhanced my teaching qualifications through Cache level 5 - ‘Leadership for Children and Young People Services’ which covers many aspects of the health and development of a child during the Early Years and the role of an Early Years Educator during this important stage in life.

My objective is to develop a long-term career in the education field. Having the privilege of being a teacher, I can honestly say that this is the most amazing experience of my life. Teaching two different approaches, the Montessori and Reggio Emilia approach, opened my eyes to the amazing world of young children. Seeing the smiles on their faces as they learn is the best part of my day!

      Ms. Kelsey

Hi, I’m Ms. Kelsey and I’m the teacher for little willows. I’ve been teaching for just over year and a half. I love teaching the little ones, it has always been a dream and passion of mine! I have lived in Dubai for 15 years and I am currently studying my Cache level 3 in early childcare. It makes me so happy to watch the children grow into their own individual characters. I cannot wait to watch my career grow and blossom with the Willow team, it is truly amazing to be working in my dream job.

      Ms. Shannon

Hello, my name is Ms. Shannon, I have been working in childcare for 7 years now. Currently I am teaching in the blossom’s classroom. I have been working with this age group for the past 3 years. When I was in high school, I knew that I want to do something that would involve teaching young children, being the oldest sibling of four had a big impact on my teaching as I would always pretend to play teacher with my youngest sibling. I went on to doing health and social care in the uk and finished high school there. When I arrived back to Dubai, I took my first job at willow when I was only 17 years old and have loved working and teaching at willow till today.

      Alessia

Hi I’m Alessia, a teacher at Willows Children’s Nursery In Dubai Marina. Teaching has always been a passion of mine which started from a young age when I was at school myself. I graduated University with a degree in Early Childhood Education and have had over 8 years of experience teaching in the Early Years Foundation Stage in the UK. I recently decided to broaden my experiences and move to Dubai to continue my teaching journey.

I particularly enjoy specialising in Early Years as I love being able to have a role in shaping the future of young children during this crucial stage of their development. I pride myself on my positive attitude to my work, as well as my ability to build an excellent relationship with children and their families.

      Emily

I'm Ms Emily and I am the teacher of the Daisy class at Willow Nursery in the Dubai Marina. I have lived in Dubai for 5 years and live here with my husband and two little girls who also attend Willow nursery.

I have always had a passion to work with children, especially in teaching. This is because I believe that education is one of the most important things for the younger generation. This is especially important during their early years as this sets them up for life. I am a motivated and passionate teacher and always impart my own enthusiasm for learning on my pupils to encourage them to become independent and confident children. I especially enjoy teaching early years because as a teacher you get to make a lasting positive impact on a child’s development, introducing them to new concepts and ideas every single day. I am a PGCE qualified teacher in foundation and key stage 1 and have had experience in teaching in a variety of schools and nursery’s. I gained my PGCE from the University of Roehampton in the UK and have had experience teaching nursery, reception, year 1 and year 2 in the UK and since being in Dubai have taught in nurseries from the ages of 2-4. My teaching style has always been child centred and I believe children should be treated as individuals and celebrated for their own personal achievements in a caring and inspiring environment.

      Emma

I'm Emma, I'm a dedicated teacher at Willow Nursery and have been for almost 3 years. I started at Willow in the baby class, combined with my previous nursery experience here in Dubai alongside Willow, I have had the pleasure of working across all age groups. I am originally from near Manchester in the UK and have lived in Dubai with my partner and puppy for 5 years and plan to be here for many more.

I am a qualified nursery teacher with Cache Level 3 and hope to gain my Cache Level 5 in the near future to help further progress my career in the child care sector. I'm a very enthusiastic person, who loves being around children and helping them grow and it gives me great joy to help provide children with the building blocks to prepare them for later in life. . Being with children and adapting to personalise their growth comes very naturally to me so I’m lucky that my job never feels like work.

      Jessie

Hello! My Name is Miss Jessie and I am a teacher at Willow Marina. My passion for childcare started at the age of fifteen whilst studying for my GCSE. I also worked part-time at a children soft play area where I would entertain and host children’s parties. After finishing my GCSE it was very easy to decide what I was going to study next. I studied for my childcare Level 3 Cache diploma whilst still working part-time in a nursery. After three years I became qualified and got offered a full time role as a Nursery teacher. Working with kids has always been a passion of mine so it came very natural to me. Having the opportunity to guide and teach children brings me happiness because there is no better feeling than knowing you have helped brighten up a child’s day whilst they learn new things. My philosophy is that each child is unique in their own way and we all might learn in different ways than others, but by acknowledging and working alongside all of the children in my class, I can help him/her to reach their full potential.

A little bit of background about me. I grew up in rainy London with my mum from Leicester and my dad from wales. I have always loved living In London, but after visiting Dubai on holiday I fell in love with waking up every-day in the sunshine!. In my spare time I love to stay active by swimming in the sea and going to the gym.

      Tracy

I’m Tracy and I am from Scotland where I studied Dance Professionals in the Community. I then went on to be a sports development officer, managing health and well-being opportunities for children in schools and nurseries. I soon realised the programme was much more fun when I was actively around the children and went on to study again, this time CACHE level 3 in Childcare and Education. I moved to Dubai from Scotland four years ago and started teaching in Willow Marina the year after. The best thing about teaching is watching the children develop throughout the year and the highlight is how much the children make me laugh.

At Willow Children’s Nursery, the safety and security of your children is our top priority

+ We offer a CARD ONLY entry system for parents as well as intercom for visitors.

+ CCTV cameras at the nursery are present within the building for internal use only. These can be viewed at parent's requests.

+ Our qualified nurse conducts regular safety sweeps. She will identify any dangers she may see in and out of the nursery building and check on children's health.

+ The outside areas are all fenced to ensure that children cannot exit the premises at all. We also have fences to separate the younger children from the bigger children during play times when chances of rough play could happen.

+ If a parent is unable to collect their child and wishes to send a relative or someone unknown to nursery staff, we must be given the secret password or have proof of rights to collect the child before they will be released.

        Purpose

At Kids First Group Nursery we want children to feel safe, stimulated and happy in the setting and to feel secure and comfortable with staff. We also want parents/carers to have condence in both their child's wellbeing and their own role as active partners with the nursery.

        Policy statement

We aim to make the setting a welcoming place where children settle quickly and easily because consideration has been given to the individual needs and circumstances of children and their families.

        Methods

Children cannot play or learn successfully if they are anxious and unhappy. Our settling -in procedures aim to assist parents to help their child to feel comfortable in the nursery, to benefit from what it has to offer, to be happy to stay with their teacher and to be confident that their parents will return at the end of the session. We do not believe that leaving a child to cry will help them to settle any quicker; their distress will prevent them from learning and gaining the best from setting. It can also be disruptive and can contribute to triggering similar distress in other children who would otherwise be settled.

At Kids First Group, we use the following methods to better integrate and induct the younger children into the setting:

        • Before a child starts attending the nursery, we use a variety of ways to provide his/her parents/carers with information via email and inviting you to visit the nursery and have a walk around the week before your child is due to start so the setting becomes familiar to them. *

        • We allocate a teacher to each child and his/her family. When your child starts to attend; the teacher welcomes, gets to know and looks after your child and his/her parents/carers and during the settling-in process. Please ask your teachers who is the allocated person for your child when you join.

        • When a child starts attending the setting, we explain the process of settling-in with his/her parents/carer and jointly decide on the best way to help the child to settle into the nursery. New children will be invited to attend the nursery for a maximum of 2-hour sessions for the first week of term. We also advise our returning children who have travelled to keep the first few days shorter as they are also settling back in.

        • We have an expectation that the parent, carer or close relative, will stay in the setting, but not in the classroom for long periods of times during these settling in periods. Children are encouraged to bring any special comforters, which may help them settle more easily, i.e. soft toy, dummy, muslin.

        • Depending on how freely the child moves around the room and if they have shown some acceptance of their teacher, the parent or carer may then, with the child’s knowledge, leave the room for a short period of time.

        • We encourage the parent/carer to leave their child after approximately 10 minutes if they feel their child is ready on the first day. In the event that your child may not be prepared to separate from you, we suggest you remain in the classroom for 20-30 minutes maximum and then remain in the nursery environment until the teacher shall mutually decide your child should leave with you and return the next day. If you have left your child and he/she becomes extremely unsettled, we will ask you to return to calm him/her down and make sure that your child leaves on a positive note.

        • We also may suggest you slowly increase your child’s time at the nursery, if he shows signs of anxiety. These periods of time can gradually increase as and when the child’s confidence grows until eventually the child stays in Nursery for a full day.

        • Parents/carers must be prepared to accept that it may take some time for their child to adjust to the nursery, but very few children fail to settle eventually. We find that parents staying with their child and then leaving him/her for short periods, eases the separation process. Please remember, the more your child comes and experiences the activities on offer and sees you interacting with the staff, the more settled he/she will feel.

        • Younger children typically take longer to settle, as will children who have not previously spent time away from home. Children who have had a period of absence may also need their parent/carer to be on hand to re-settle them.

        • We judge a child to be settled when they have formed a relationship with their teacher and settled in the environment. For example, the child looks for the teacher when he/she arrives, goes to them for comfort, and seems pleased to be with them. The child is also familiar with where things are and is pleased to see other children and participate in activities.

When parents leave, we ask them to say goodbye to their child and explain that they will be coming back, and when. We advise parents not to leave their children on their own until at least their second visit.

We reserve the right not to accept a child into the setting without a parent or carer if the child routinely and continually finds it distressing to be left. This is especially the case with very young children. Settling of such children will take time and the support and assistance parents and carers can give to the nursery staff will be instrumental in making the process as rapid and stress free for the child as possible.

We do recognize every child is different and wherever possible we will work in partnership to ensure your child settles into the nursery.

It is only when the child is happy and secure in the Nursery routine and also in the knowledge that their parent/carer will leave and return that their stay in Nursery can be lengthened.
